How to Increase the Humidity in your Reptile's Habitat

To increase the humidity in your reptile's habitat you can do a few things:

  • Mist your reptile's habitat daily, do not mist till the substraite is sopping wet, that can cause other problems.
  • Place a towel or plastic wrap over 2/3rds of the tank.  Be careful if you are using heating sources that are on top of the tank, it maybe a fire hazard.
  • Try making a humid hide
  • Change your substrate to something that holds more humidity, such as coconut husk.

How to make a Humid Hide

Frist off what is a "humid hide"?  A humid hide a container, preferably plastic, with a hole cut in it filled with damp papertowel or other moist substraite.  Humid hides can be filled with crumpled damp papertowel, damp wash cloths, or moss.  Below is a picture of a humid hide.  They should be opaque, but in this example it is clear.
